Sounds Like The Perfect Vacation. The Kids Agree Too.

I woke up at 3:45 this morning. I almost immediately dove into my usual morning routine. Pee. Make coffee. Make a hot breakfast for Lisa. Pack Lisa's lunch for work. At some point throughout my Monday through Friday morning routine, Lisa gets up and begins hers. Take the kids out. Prepare their breakfast. Eats her breakfast. Shower. Get dressed for work.

During our morning routine, we both sip coffee and chat amid the hustle and bustle. Our conversations are usually choppy.

This morning, Lisa brought up her week long vacation that she'll be taking in another week and a half. We're both excited for this.

The last week long vacation she took was back in May of 2018 when we tackled our Big Bodacious Painting Project.

While putting her socks and shoes on, Lisa asked me a loaded question...

"Are you disappointed that we don't have any big plans for when I'm on vacation for a week?"

I took a sip of coffee.

"Absolutely not. Why are you asking me this?"

"Well, I've noticed as of late that a lot of people are posting photos about their warm-weather-destination vacations on Facebook."

"Good for them. I've noticed that too. But, I'm not tempted in the least bit."

Lisa took the last sip of her coffee.

"I'm not either. You know why?"

"Why?"

"Because, what I look forward to the most is being able to have all those days for laid back morning coffee chat times. I get to be home with you and the kids. I'll enjoy lots of extra playtime with our kids. We can just exhale and be in the moment. Maybe we can escape for a few hours once or twice that week for me-and-you date afternoons. And, we can make a lot of cool stuff in the woodshop and Bodacious DIY Dog Mom Project Workshop."

"That sounds like the perfect vacation to me."

"Me too."

At that point, Coco ran into the kitchen. Sophie sat in the middle of the kitchen floor and looked up at Lisa. Lobo barked. Willa grabbed one of her favorite fetch balls and dropped it at Lisa's feet.

I'm guessing our kids agree too.
