I Raise My Coffee Cup

I have posted this photo several times over the past few years. It's my visual of a frequent social media post that replicates "raises my coffee cup." Yes, this is me. Holding up my coffee cup. Today has proven to be one of those days. I got up at 3:30 a.m. I slept great on the overnight. I had a cup of coffee. Two cups of coffee. Had all plans to embark on a productive day.

When Lisa left for work at 5:20 a.m. this morning, I poured another cup of coffee. Yes, cup number three. I uploaded photos at my desk in our Home Office. Then, I brought my Chrome Book to the kitchen table.

The kids were napping soundly.

None of our air conditioners were on.

Quiet.

I published 4 blog columns.

I was minutes away from heading into the Bodacious DIY Dog Mom Project workshop.

Then, Mother Nature decided to pay a visit.

Thunderstorm number one.

I stopped what I was doing to comfort our kids who do NOT like thunderstorms.

That storm ended.

A half hour later, another thunderstorm.

That storm ended.

An hour later, another thunderstorm.

That storm ended.

During Lisa's lunch at work, they were getting a bad storm, so she called from inside.

After we hung up, we got another storm.

As I'm writing this, the thunder is rattling our windows.

With each thunderstorm, I've had to stop what I'm doing to comfort our kids.

They are terrified of storms.

I'm not complaining.

But, this is a vibrant example of what happens when we get thunderstorms.

I had no idea we'd be getting so many today. Or any at all.

Or that I would be halted from working in the Bodacious Dog Mom Project workshop.

This is when I raise my coffee cup...

To the days that don't go as planned.

To being a Work at Home Dog Mom.

To this life that Lisa and I made together.

To all of it.
