I Notice More Than You Realize. I Think More Than I Speak.

Today was the day we were supposed to participate in the Whiskers in Wonderland Event. It would have been our 4th year. However, on Monday, I sent a message to the host letting them know we would not be able to attend. The reason was work, unforeseen circumstances, and company. Normally, this event is on a Sunday, but this year, it landed on a Saturday. Between work schedules and such, we had to cancel.

What a lot of people don't realize is that planning for an event is very time-consuming. It's not just about the hours of the actual event. The Whiskers in Wonderland Event was 1-4 p.m. today. Three hours. That's a relatively short period of time for an event. However, the amount of work involved to prep for an event far exceeds that.

I baked biscuit love on Monday. I spent 9 hours mixing, rolling, cutting, and baking. After 9 hours, I didn't have nearly enough biscuits for the event. This was partly due to getting some orders over the weekend and pet parents in need. In order to have enough biscuits to restock our display, for orders, pet parents in need, and for the event, I would have needed to spend another 9-10 hours baking biscuits.

In addition, our kids ran out of their favorite soft-baked peanut butter treats. I had to bake more.

Then, in order to fill our bake sale table, I would have spent about 12 hours baking on Friday. In addition, we put in about 50 hours total for the DIY Dog Mom Projects that we made.

In total, that's about 80 hours. That's not including travel, set up, the 3-hour length of the event, take down and travel home.

I hated sending that message on Monday explaining why we needed to cancel.

I hated even more that our stuff was replaced.

I hated the greatest that our offer to donate raffle items was shrugged off.

But, at the end of the day, it is what it is.

Don't underestimate me.

I know more than I say.

Think more than I speak.

Notice more than you realize.
