Our hearts are heavy. Lisa’s Grammy Tarte passed away earlier today. She was a phenomenal woman with a zest for life. She loved her family, had a heart of gold, and adored birds, especially cardinals, gardening, and embracing the simple things in life.
I had the honor of meeting this woman 20 years ago. I remember that day clearly. Her home was warm and inviting. I admired her abundance of houseplants. She had just baked one of her rhubarb creations. I was hooked.
The memory of Lisa's Grammy is scattered throughout our home. This photo is one of my favorites of Lisa and Grammy. It’s displayed in our living room. Not too far away, hanging from the doorway separating the kitchen and living room, is a cardinal wind chime that was passed down to us.
We raise our glasses to Grammy Tarte. With love. With honor. With peace.
