The Last Day Of 2018 Was Quite Spectacular

My urge to bake homemade gourmet cupcakes today took me by surprise. In addition to all of the baking I did in December, I also baked a ton of homemade dog treats for our kids over the weekend. And, I made my homemade pretzel bites this afternoon to bring over to a neighbor friend's house that we'll be visiting for New Year's Eve munchies and drinks.

I don't make homemade gourmet cupcakes often because they're time consuming. But today, I was feeling it. I wanted to bring them to our New Year's Eve celebration and to spread some yummy love to all of our neighbor friends.

So, it happened.

When Lisa arrived home from work, she delivered the cupcakes. They were a huge hit.

I made my homemade pretzel bites and honey mustard sauce.

We walked to our neighbor friend's house shortly before 6. We had a wonderful time. It was a quiet gathering with only 6 people. We ate, enjoyed the famous adult strawberry punch, gathered in the living room for lengthy chats, and had a few laughs.

By the time we left around 9:30, it was pouring buckets. We walked home in the rain. It only takes 2 minutes to walk home, but we were soaked by the time we unlocked our door. After changing into dry clothes, we spent lots of time with our kids.

Both of us were extremely tired. We had been up since 4 a.m. I tucked Lisa and the kids into bed moments ago.

It won't be long until I join them.

But, for right now, I want to finish this blog column, reflect on the past year, close some chapters, and embrace the face-forward-onward-march mind frame as we head into 2019.

Happy New Year!
