Well over a month ago, I got a request for 2 custom Bodacious Patchwork Doggy Quilts. The recipient didn't need them until the very end of May. Most of the time, I get started on custom orders almost immediately...as in the next day or so. However, this time around, and based on the time frame when these custom quilts were needed, I focused on the Annual Spring Festival and Craft Show that we participated in on Saturday. We had a month to prepare and we did it.
Today, 2 days after the event, I had to shift my focus to these 2 custom Bodacious Patchwork Doggy Quilts. I'll be honest, after spending a month at the kitchen table making 5 quilts, an array of leash/pup apparel holders and doggy themed wall decor, about 50 doggy bandannas, dog bone shaped decorative pillows, doggy toy boxes, and baking biscuit love for the event, the last thing I wanted to do today was sit at the table.
Cutting fabric.
Ironing.
Sewing.
Measuring.
Ironing again.
Sewing on appliques.
Ironing again.
Blah. Blah. Blah.
But, I did it.
It wasn't as painful as I thought. I put some music on. Cracked open a bottle of wine. Took breaks and played with the kids.
And, I enjoyed the funny faces Lisa and Lobo made while I was putting the final touches on the quilts. They were trying to get me to laugh.
It worked.
Meanwhile, Willa was clawing at my leg with one of her fetch toys in her mouth.
Sophie was under the table waiting for snack time.
Coco was on the sofa enjoying a chew bone.
The only thing left to do before these 2 quilts are done is to sew up the gap used to turn each quilt right side out.
That will get done tomorrow. It'll take 15 minutes.
Then, the quilts will be delivered to the "middle woman."
At that point, I'm officially taking a few days off from anything that requires me to sit at the kitchen table.
For real.
